Based in Chicago and serving communities across the Midwest, the company is seeking a Controller to lead its finance and accounting operations during an exciting phase of expansion. 📌 What You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Lead all accounting operations including GL management, revenue cycle accounting, grant tracking, and payroll for multiple sites
- Oversee financial close, internal/external reporting, and compliance with GAAP and healthcare-specific regulatory frameworks
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership to enhance cost tracking, revenue forecasting, and service-line profitability
- Ensure timely, accurate preparation of monthly financials, cash flow reports, and key financial dashboards
- Develop and enforce strong internal controls across multiple care sites and service lines
- Serve as primary liaison for external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies
- Support the CFO in budgeting, strategic planning, and long-range financial modeling
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of accountants and finance professionals with a service-oriented mindset
🏥 What You Bring:
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3+ years in a healthcare setting (hospital system, clinic, private practice, etc.)
- Deep understanding of healthcare operations including patient billing, managed care contracts, grants, and regulatory compliance
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred
- Multi-entity or multi-location experience is a plus
- Proficiency with healthcare accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, Netsuite, or similar); advanced Excel skills required
- Experience with federal/state funding, Medicaid/Medicare billing, and audit preparation is highly desirable
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and is able to communicate financial information clearly across clinical and non-clinical teams
