Automation Project Sales Engineer

Location: Northeast & Southeast US | Field / ~75% travel

About the opportunity

Our client is a global leader in integrated packaging and processing solutions for food, medical, and related industries. In the United States they operate from a Kansas City headquarters and Innovation Center with regional support across the country. This seat supports Regional Sales Managers and Sales Directors across the Northeast and Southeast on robotic systems and packaging automation projects - a specialist technical-sales role on a worked territory with warm leads and existing accounts.

The role

As Automation Project Sales Engineer you will design and sell automated packaging/processing line solutions, orchestrating technical scope with commercial close. You partner internally with RSMs/SDs to earn meetings and trust, walk customers through line concepts, and own project sales for automation packages that often sit inside larger full-line orders.

What you'll do

  • Support NE/SE field reps on robotic systems and packaging automation opportunities
  • Lead discovery, line concepting, and proposal of automated solutions (layouts, functional specs, integration path)
  • Walk customers through recent line designs you have owned - from requirements through install readiness
  • Coordinate with applications, engineering, and project teams on scope, timeline, and commercial terms
  • Travel heavily (~75%) across the Northeast and Southeast for customer visits, demos, and shows; fly to Kansas City for key internal milestones
  • Maintain CRM discipline and forecast accuracy on a multi-month project cycle

What we're looking for

  • 10+ years relevant experience (client bar). Bachelor's in engineering or related plus automated systems experience preferred
  • Proven ability to walk a recent production line you designed and/or installed (functional specs, layout decisions, integration tradeoffs)
  • Technical sales profile: orchestrate solutions - not pure engineer, not pure hunter-only seller
  • Relatable communicator who can sell expertise internally to RSMs/SDs as well as externally to customers
  • Preferred domain: primals / processing / packaging automation
  • CAD for 2D systems layouts required; SolidWorks a plus
  • Valid driver's license; passport readiness for travel
  • Based in NE/SE preferred; elsewhere in the US OK if willing to travel ~75% into the territory

Work model

Field / home-based with heavy customer travel (~75%). Internal collaboration with US commercial and technical teams; interview process includes Microsoft Teams then a full day in Kansas City, MO.

Compensation & benefits

Competitive base plus commission on full-line order value (structure discussed on qualified calls). Benefits package details provided during process.
