SUMMARY:
The Director of Production will oversee all facets of planning, manufacturing, inventory, and packaging operations at Cannabis Co-Pack’s Branford facility. This role is accountable for ensuring production efficiency, product quality, and compliance with regulatory standards, while driving continuous improvement across our facilities.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented problem solver with strong leadership skills and a proven ability to inspire and manage teams. While an engineering background is an asset, it is not required; what matters most is a track record of successfully leading production in a GMP-regulated environment. The Director of Production will play a critical role in shaping operational excellence, optimizing processes, and ensuring we deliver high-quality cannabis products to our partners at scale.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead all manufacturing, inventory, and packaging operations, ensuring production plans are executed efficiently and accurately.
- Develop and manage production schedules, resource allocation, and dry materials management to meet demand forecasts.
- Ensure strict compliance with all applicable cannabis regulations (medical and recreational), GMP requirements, and health and safety standards.
- Partner with Quality Assurance to develop, implement, and enforce SOPs that meet EU GMP and internal quality standards.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators, including throughput, capacity utilization, yield, and waste, while driving continuous improvement.
- Identify, recommend, and support capital investment projects that improve capacity, efficiency, or quality.
- Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing production team, fostering professional growth and leadership at all levels.
- Build and maintain a culture of operational excellence, innovation, and accountability, where employees are motivated to contribute and take pride in their work.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Quality, and Commercial teams to ensure smooth operations and on-time delivery to clients
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, or production, with at least 3 years in a senior management role.
- Experience in a GMP-regulated environment (pharmaceutical, food, cannabis, or related industry) is required.
- Strong understanding of production planning, inventory management, and packaging operations.
- Proven track record of developing, coaching, and leading high-performing teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, regulated industry.
- Strong collaboration skills and experience working cross-functionally with Quality, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Engineering, science, or business degree is an asset but not required; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- Comfortable working with metrics and KPIs, with demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Passion for cannabis, operational excellence, and building world-class products.
