Location: Australia

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our client is a licensed medicinal cannabis company based in Southeast Queensland. A forty-five minute drive from Brisbane CBD, the hybrid-indoor glasshouse on the northern edge of the Scenic Rim produces consistent, high-quality medicinal cannabis products for Australian patients and global partners. This state-of-the-art facility combines:

  • Advanced environmental control in a glasshouse setting.
  • Significant use of solar energy and efficient irrigation to reduce our footprint.
  • A strong focus on quality, compliance and data-driven cultivation.

SUMMARY:

Our client is seeking a dynamic, high energy Marketing Manager to become the strategic voice of its brand. This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious marketer who wants to build a national and global cannabis brand from the ground up, with a clear succession path into the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) role.

The Marketing Manager will function as the core of the marketing engine, driving brand strategy, storytelling, public relations, digital communications, corporate messaging, and market presence. This is a hands-on, highly creative, execution-focused role that requires bold thinking, an audacious approach to branding, and the ability to influence narrative in a rapidly evolving industry. The successful candidate will lead one junior marketing/social media coordinator and manage partnerships with third-party agencies. As the department grows, this role will naturally evolve into our future CMO.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build, lead, and execute a full marketing strategy across brand, PR, digital, trade, and corporate channels.
  • Serve as the primary storyteller and narrative driver for the company, shaping how the company is perceived nationally and internationally.
  • Lead PR efforts, media relationships, corporate communications, and external messaging.
  • Oversee brand identity development, ensuring consistency across packaging, digital assets, investor materials, and consumer touchpoints.
  • Manage and mentor a junior marketing/social media coordinator.
  • Coordinate with third-party agencies, including PR, branding, digital, and creative, to enhance execution and expand capacity.
  • Develop content strategies for social media, website, press releases, digital campaigns, and industry thought leadership.
  • Build marketing KPIs, performance dashboards, and reporting systems.
  • Work closely with the CEO and executive team to ensure marketing efforts align with commercial strategy and international expansion.
  • Identify marketing opportunities within the medicinal cannabis landscape, tracking competitors, regulations, market trends, and emerging channels.
  • Plan and execute events, conferences, and brand activations.
  • Oversee marketing budgeting, vendor management, and resource allocation.
  • Lay the foundation for a scalable marketing department capable of supporting future growth into a CMO-level structure.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in marketing, with significant experience in brand development, PR, and marketing leadership.
  • Demonstrated success owning full-funnel marketing strategies, ideally within regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, cannabis, health, alcohol, or CPG.
  • Strong PR experience, with confidence managing media relationships and public-facing corporate messaging.
  • High-energy, creative, and bold thinker with an audacious approach to branding.
  • Proven ability to operate as a one-person marketing engine while scaling up, building systems, and leading junior team members.
  • Experience collaborating with and managing external agencies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to evaluate campaign performance and demonstrate ROI.
  • Strong ambition to grow into a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) role.
