Responsibilities


Accounting and Month End Duties:

  • Record and maintain utilities accruals, AP accruals, interest, and finance lease entries.
  • Record monthly Prepaid Entries.
  • Perform credit card reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Assist with Accounting Software Enhancements and AP Automation Tools.
  • Preparation and submission of HST/GST returns in line with CRA deadlines.
  • Enter payroll entries and accruals; prepare related reconciliations.
  • Monthly Filing of WSIB ON.
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and other ad-hoc accounting support as required.
  • Ensure all monthly reconciliations are prepared and finalized within the designated month-end close schedule.
  • Assist with audit preparation.

 

Accounts Payable:

  • Process Accounts Payable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timely approvals.
  • Execute AP payments (EFT, bill payments, e-transfers) and ensure timely vendor payments.
  • Apply AP payments to open invoices accurately.
  • Ensure AP close is completed within 3 business days of month-end.
  • Manage AP inbox, respond to vendor inquiries, and resolve payment-related issues.
  • Maintain backup documentation for credit card and other AP transactions.
  • Monitor and report on AP KPIs (Days Payable Outstanding, aging, etc.).
  • Process bank transfers and ensure proper recording in the accounting system.
  • Review and manage credit applications for new vendors and customers as assigned.

Other:

  • Act as backup to Accounts Receivable:
  • Contribute to process improvements in AP and Accounting workflows.
  • Assist Finance leadership with ad-hoc reporting and projects as assigned.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Operations, QA, Sales) to ensure timely deliverables.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Experience / Education

  • A CPA designation is required
  • Degree in a relevant field, such as finance or accounting
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting and financial reporting experience is required
  • Familiarity with accounting software, including QuickBooks and other ERP systems
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; ability to write, read and comprehend technical documents, such as SOPs
