Summary
We are seeking a Post-Harvest Manager to lead and manage all post-harvest activities, including harvest, drying, trimming, packaging, and inventory control. This role ensures accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and smooth coordination of internal teams and contract workers.
The ideal candidate has strong logical thinking, mechanical aptitude, and solid computer skills (Excel/Google Sheets, Word). Key responsibilities include managing inventory events, maintaining SOPs, coordinating audits and inspections, and overseeing reporting for Health Canada and the CRA. A hands-on, detail-oriented leader who thrives in a regulated, fast-paced environment will excel in this position.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all aspects of inventory management.
- Lead on harvest event preparation and process, including equipment/room set up, tracking, weighing, hanging of harvest, and preparation of related paperwork
- Lead on cannabis drying preparation and process, including equipment/room set up, monitoring and adjusting environmental conditions, conducting moisture tests, regular monitoring of moisture content, and adjusting related equipment for the desired result
- Lead on trimming event coordination and process, including booking/managing contract trimmers, monitoring and adjusting environmental conditions, weighing production, preparing related paperwork, and preparing trimmer production summaries for payment
- Lead for Inventory packaging event preparation and process, including equipment/room set up, tracking, weighing, and preparation of related paperwork
- Labeling of inventory
- Review batch and destruction records regularly and post inventory events to the Company inventory tracking spreadsheet
- Responsible for inventory control including ensuring at all times that any inventory movement is properly accounted for, documented accurately and that accurate inventory records are maintained
- Inventory counts, reconciliation to inventory spreadsheets and resolution of any errors
- Maintain current and accurate list of inventory available for sale and relevant harvest/packaging dates and testing status
- Coordinate shipments and receiving and all related paperwork & communications for inventory
- Create, maintain, and review of batch binders for completeness
- Book and manage Phytosanitary inspections
- Responsible for SOP creation, maintenance, training, and tracking
- Maintain thorough understanding of Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to ensure compliance with the Cannabis Act and Regulations and GPP/GMP including:
- Review and update SOPs as necessary, including any related forms or supporting documents; Collaborate with the Management Team and Master Grower for reviews and updates.
- Conduct and document training for all staff and contract workers, ensuring all staff are up to date on training.
- Receive/understand Health Canada and CRA Excise Tax audit requests and intelligently prepare draft response to same
- Draft monthly Health Canada and CRA Excise Tax reports
- Responsible for sourcing, booking and managing part-time staff and reporting related work hours via timesheets
- Report work hours for full-time staff
- Responsible for on-site tracking of staff holidays and sick days
- After-hours, weekend and away coverage –conduct facility and room checks on a rotating basis, provide alarm responses when urgent and provide coverage for Master Grower away times or as needed Develop Global Marketing Strategy:
Experience / Education
- 3–5 years of experience in post-harvest operations within the regulated cannabis industry or a related field
- Strong understanding of GPP/GMP standards and Health Canada Cannabis Regulations, with hands-on experience in compliance and audit preparation
- Proven ability to manage and train teams, including contract workers, in a production or post-harvest environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools, with advanced skills in Excel/Google Sheets for tracking, reporting, and inventory management
- Mechanical aptitude and experience troubleshooting post-harvest or facility equipment is considered a strong asset
