Summary
We are looking for a Post-Harvest Specialist to oversee the drying, curing, trimming, and packaging processes at our cannabis facility. This role is responsible for ensuring product quality, compliance, and operational efficiency throughout post-harvest operations. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in cannabis post-harvest handling, quality control, and production workflows, with a strong understanding of regulatory standards and best practices in post-harvest processing.
Responsibilities
- Manage all post-harvest processes, including drying, curing, trimming, and packaging.
- Maintain optimal environmental conditions for drying and curing to ensure potency, terpene retention, and product consistency.
- Implement and maintain SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for all post-harvest activities.
- Work closely with the cultivation and compliance teams to minimize product loss and maintain regulatory compliance.
- Train and oversee post-harvest staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality control measures.
- Track and document yields, moisture levels, and batch testing to ensure consistency.
- Oversee sanitation and cleanliness protocols to maintain a sterile post-harvest environment.
- Ensure all packaging and labeling complies with Health Canada and GMP standards.
- Monitor and evaluate post-harvest equipment performance, ensuring timely maintenance and repairs.
- Work with supply chain and inventory teams to track raw materials, packaging needs, and finished product storage.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste during post-harvest operations.
Experience / Education
- 3+ years of experience in cannabis post-harvest operations or similar industries (e.g., food production, agriculture).
- Strong knowledge of drying, curing, trimming, and packaging techniques.
- Experience working in a regulated cannabis production environment.
- Understanding of moisture content, terpene preservation, and compliance best practices.
- Experience leading teams and training staff in post-harvest procedures and quality control.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to track and document data.
- Ability to troubleshoot post-harvest equipment and environmental conditions.
