SUMMARY:

 

White Ash Group is looking for a QA/QC Technicians, responsible for the quality, safety, and sanitation of ingredients, packaging materials, work in process, and finished products to meet the company, supplier, customer requirements in strict compliance with GPP/GMP, Health Canada Cannabis Regulations, Cannabis Act, and various provincial cannabis authorities to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies. The QA/QC Technician works with Regulatory Affairs, Procurement (purchasing), Logistics, Inventory, and Production staff.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Act and provide guidance on product sampling and sample submission requirements to Production, Quality, Product Development, and Logistics.
  • Perform receiving inspection for incoming cannabis and non-cannabis products, materials, and ingredients.
  • Perform the required analytical testing (cannabinoids, moisture content, pH, EC, viscosity, water activity).
  • Perform and coordinate the sampling for the Environmental Monitoring program, stability program, and temperature mapping program.
  • Implement the standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliability of products.
  • Performs In‑process checks to ensure product and process parameters remain within approved specifications during manufacturing, supporting batch quality prior to final release
  • Translate external laboratory results into an electronic tracker as variable data for label preparation.
  • Communicate laboratory testing results to appropriate team members and create Certificates of Analysis Verification.
  • Perform analysis of reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary.
  • Assist product support areas in gathering and analyzing data.
  • Maintain and organize the laboratory, laboratory inventory and supplies, lab records, and retention samples.
  • Report on safety and/or quality problems to personnel with the authority to initiate corrective actions.
  • Oversee the hygiene of personnel, equipment cleanliness, and maintenance.
  • Responsible for planning, implementing, and managing compliance of manufacturing and production processes with Health Canada Cannabis Regulations, Cannabis Act, GMP, and associated policies with the federal government.
  • Assure compliance with in-house and external specifications and standards.
  • Ensure that products are manufactured, packaged, labelled, and stored in accordance with internal approved SOPs and Health Canada Cannabis Regulations.
  • Review processes and identify areas for improvement and propose improvements to management.
  • Create, review, and maintain Production Batch Production Record,
  • Develop, review and maintain Standard Operating Procedure, Form, and Logbook to ensure accurate documentation and adherence to QMS.
  • Participate in investigations of quality events such as complaints, non-conformance, deviations, CAPA’s related to product compliance.
  • Ensure the compliance of product releases through the review of Batch Production Records and other documents relating to the released products.
  • Ensure compliance with company and provincial Health and Safety protocols.
  • Other duties as required or assigned by Department Head.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • At least B.Sc. degree in Food Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or relating Applied Biological Sciences.
  • 1+ years quality assurance, quality control, and compliance experience in a cannabis or related industry.
  • Knowledge of liquid chromatography and laboratory techniques is preferable.
  • Previous experience with inspecting methods in the design, fabrication and production of medical cannabis is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Health Canada Cannabis Regulations, Cannabis Act, Cannabis Licensing, Provincial Cannabis Regulations, and EU-GMP required.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety protocols preferred.

 

SKILLS:

 

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and understand regulations in the context of commercial cannabis environment.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal; demonstrated consistent and prompt use of sound legal and business judgment.
  • Knowledge of the application of quality systems to the pharmaceutical or cannabis industry.
  • Technical writing, auditing experience preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a laboratory preferred.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
  • Effective meeting and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated/directed.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record in building trusted relationships internally and externally.
  • Time management skills are required.
  • Self-leadership, Conflict Management Skill is an asset.
  • Flexible and willing to work extra hours and weekends if required.
