About Our Client:
Our client is a licensed cannabis company based in Montreal with a high-throughput, national operation. They package and distribute cannabis products for a broad network of LPs and micro-cultivators across Canada, including the SQDC. With over 80–100 SKUs and a growing in-house flower line, their facility is a hub of dynamic activity—handling product brokering, third-party manufacturing, and internal production under one roof.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Manager on behalf of our client to lead their QA department and drive regulatory compliance across all operational functions. This is not a traditional cultivation environment—it's a fast-paced manufacturing and distribution setting requiring agility, accuracy, and leadership.
The ideal candidate will bring cannabis QA experience, understand regulations, and be capable of owning daily batch release and compliance workflows. They will work collaboratively with a lean, high-performing team and be trusted to manage QA without constant oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the QA department (currently 3 staff) to ensure high standards of quality, compliance, and team engagement.
- Oversee 3–4 daily batch releases, ensuring documentation accuracy and adherence to Health Canada requirements.
- Act as the QA point of contact for packaging, production, and brokering operations.
- Support GACP certification efforts and maintain all required records.
- Manage and implement the Elevated Signals QA software system.
- Serve as RPIC or Alternate RPIC, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure site-wide adherence to GPP, GACP, and other relevant cannabis regulatory frameworks.
- Maintain master SOPs, training records, QA logs, and documentation systems.
- Lead and manage deviations, CAPAs, complaints, and product investigations.
- Monitor sanitation, pest control, and environmental controls.
- Approve raw material, packaging, and finished product specifications.
- Handle product holds, quarantines, and recalls, coordinating with senior leadership.
- Conduct internal audits and coordinate third-party and regulatory inspections.
- Oversee stability testing and retain sample programs.
- Ensure QA training and onboarding for cross-functional staff.
- Execute QA consultant recommendations, not re-write SOPs.
- Ensure timely, business-aligned decisions while protecting product integrity and compliance.
Must Have:
-
Experience: 3–5+ years in cannabis, pharmaceutical, food, or NHP QA environments.
-
Regulatory Knowledge: Cannabis Act, GPP, GACP, and Health Canada compliance protocols.
-
Leadership: Comfortable managing a lean team with high daily output.
-
Mindset: Grounded, collaborative, proactive—understands both compliance and business.
-
Tech Fluency: Familiar with QMS platforms; Elevated Signals experience is a plus.
-
Language: French proficiency is a strong asset.
-
Security Clearance: Must have or be eligible for Health Canada Security Clearance.
