Company

Tread is the AI-native operating system for the $660B construction materials logistics market: the aggregate, asphalt, and concrete behind every road, bridge, and building in the country. Our customers run the gamut: enterprise producers and contractors that supply the world's largest infrastructure projects, alongside the family-owned hauling fleets that have moved the material this work depends on for generations. They're the operators who actually build the roads, bridges, and buildings around us. Most of the work still happens on paper tickets, phone calls, and disconnected scale houses. We're building the software they run on.

We crossed $2Bn in monthly delivered load value on the platform in July 2026. We’re at ~$XM ARR, and growing fast. Our enterprise customers reconcile real money, real freight, and real P&L against our data every day. Tread is the most important software they use.

We’re a Series A company backed by Mucker Capital.

We’re in growth mode. If you are fulfilled by ownership and a life-changing outcome, let’s connect.

Role

We are hiring a hands-on product leader invigorated by how agents change the SDLC and product development. You will serve as the primary product partner for the CEO, taking full ownership of the product cycle and execution of critical roadmap areas, like payments and agentic scheduling optimization. You will spend significant time with our customers, like being onsite at construction sites to uncover critical user journeys and key value drivers. You will be responsible in building the system that allows our small team to ship software at high speeds.

You will inherit a culture where everyone across the company is utilizing Claude Code in Terminal, and where majority of non-engineers are shipping PRs. Your job is to professionalize the cadence without slowing it down, and create the leverage needed for the company to scale. We have zero patience for corporate fluff; we care about what you shipped this week and the quality of the feedback loop you've built.

In This Role, You Will

  • Own the product loop: Convert field-level customer pain into shipped solutions by noon the next day.
  • Be the CEO's primary thought partner on platform strategy, technical architecture, and prioritization.
  • Drive the AI-native SDLC: Treat our development process as a product in itself, optimizing for speed through coding agents and automated workflows.
  • Hire and scale the FDE function: You will lead the Forward Deployed Engineering team, ensuring they act as "founders-in-training" who ship customizations directly with customers.
  • Eliminate layers: Maintain a culture of high agency where there is no committee between a good idea and production.

Requirements

AI-Native Builder

The SDLC is the product. You must be obsessed with using agent-based workflows, Bird rapid prototyping, and coding agents to ship faster. If you aren't using AI to research, write specs, and prototype daily, you aren't the right fit.

Leading the FDE Function

You will hire, manage, and scale our Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team. You'll ensure the FDE feedback loop—field pain to shipped feature—is tight, immediate, and high-velocity.

Operator DNA

7–12+ years shipping software in high-growth, high-stakes environments. You should have a track record of owning product strategy and technical decision-making without needing hand-holding.

Why Tread

We're building software for the operators who build America.

Construction materials logistics is one of the largest essential industries in the world, and the software powering it remains decades behind.

You'll receive meaningful Series A equity in a business with strong product-market fit, rapidly growing enterprise customers, and more than $1B in monthly platform volume.

You'll work directly with the CEO while helping define the future of one of the industry's most important technology platforms.

You'll have enormous ownership.

There are no layers between you and meaningful decisions.

You'll work alongside a small team of exceptional builders who care deeply about speed, quality, and customer outcomes.

We offer competitive compensation, meaningful equity, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), unlimited PTO, and a transportation stipend.

Why You Shouldn't Work With Us

  • You prefer highly structured environments with clearly defined responsibilities.
  • You want multiple management layers between yourself and decision-making.
  • You aren't excited about working in person.
  • You see product management primarily as roadmap administration rather than problem solving.
  • You aren't deeply integrating AI into how you work every day.
  • You prefer consensus over decisive prioritization.
  • You struggle to make difficult tradeoffs with incomplete information.
  • You want to own meetings more than outcomes.

Interview Process

  • Recruiter Interview
  • CEO Interview
  • Product Leadership + Technical Product Thinking Interview
  • Product Case Study & Cross-Functional Onsite Panel
  • Reference Conversations

Compensation & Location

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $200,000–$250,000 + equity. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, skills, and overall qualifications.

This is an in-person position based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Regular collaboration with teammates across product, engineering, and leadership is a core part of how we work.

Work Authorization

Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future. Tread is unable to provide visa sponsorship or future sponsorship support.
