We are seeking a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to work in the Hamblen County School District.
Our client is a leading organization committed to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health diagnosis to live their best life. They are licensed by the Tennessee Division of Intellectual Disability Services, and have been approved by the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration, Division of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD) to provide services under the Medicaid waiver.
The company provides supported living, day services, professional support services and other supports for persons with developmental disabilities. These types of supports are developed and provided in accordance with the Individual Support Plan (ISP) requirements and designated specifically for persons with intellectual disabilities and/or mental illness.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Procedural Integrity Checks:
- Conduct regular procedural integrity checks to ensure that BSPs are implemented accurately and consistently.
- Monitor and assess the fidelity of intervention strategies in alignment with BACB guidelines.
- Implementation of Procedures/ Programs:
- Provide on-going behavioral services to referred, ECF supported persons as identified in the PCP and BSP.
- Implementing special components of the BSP or plans developed by the Behavior Analyst to facilitate positive skill growth.
- Coordinating all behavioral restrictions for company supported persons as identified in the ISP and BSP.
- Serving as the Registered Behavioral Technician for the company and provides on-site assistance and training in a difficult or crisis situation with their designated individuals.
- Data Collection and Analysis:
- Evaluate the reliability and accuracy of data collection methods used by staff.
- Perform timely and precise data entry and graphing, ensuring that all data is up-to-date and includes clear phase change labels.
- Observing supported person behavior to determine effectiveness of the behavior support/maintenance plan or crisis prevention plan and consulting with the Behavior Analyst when behavior support/maintenance or crisis prevention plan changes are needed.
- Feedback and Support:
- Provide both positive and corrective feedback to staff responsible for the daily implementation of BSPs.
- Collaborate with team members to reinforce best practices and address areas for improvement.
- Maintain effective customer relationships with state officials, MCO’s, ISCs, supported persons and their families/conservators, company employees and other behavioral support professionals
- Supervision and Compliance:
- The Registered Behavioral Technician will be supervised by the Director of Behavioral Services or a designated Behavior Analyst. The RBT will ensure open lines of communication among all key leaders within the organization but particularly with the Director of Behavioral Services.
- Adhere to all BACB supervision guidelines, including participating in regular, documented supervision sessions with a qualified BCBA.
- Ensure that supervision hours are accurately tracked and meet the BACB’s requirements for RBTs.
- Implement feedback from supervision sessions to improve service delivery and professional practice.
- Staff Training:
- Assist in the ongoing training and development of staff to enhance their competency in implementing BSPs.
- Ensure that all staff members are knowledgeable about the most current practices in behavior analysis and intervention.
- Train direct support staff or unpaid caregivers to carry out the approved behavior support/maintenance plan developed by the Behavior Analyst or in conjunction with the Behavior Analyst.
- Observe staff and supported persons behavior for correct implementation (reliability) of the behavior support/maintenance plan and completing retraining as needed.
- Serve as the Registered Behavioral Technician for the company and provides on-site assistance and training in a difficult or crisis situation with their designated individuals.
- Certification Maintenance:
- Maintain active RBT certification by meeting all BACB requirements, including continuing education.
- Adhere strictly to BACB standards and the code of ethics in all professional activities.
- Maintaining personal training as required by DIDD and the MCO’s
- Billing and Documentation:
- Accurately document all services related to behavioral support services provided and ensure that billing is completed in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized and comprehensive records as required by the company and regulatory bodies.
- Maintaining a process for ensuring the follow-up of all behavioral health appointments for company Supported Persons.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Must be available when crisis situations develop, and the Behavior Analyst is not available to intervene or offer assistance.
- Exhibits behaviors and best practices that are consistent with the vision and values of the company.
- Practices safe work habits to eliminate and control potential safety and health hazards and to maintain a safe work environment. Attends all safety training as scheduled.
- Work as part of the team to ensure that the company Quality Management principles (Plan, Measure, Assess. Improve) are practiced and achieved.
- Operates company and personal transportation in a safe and healthy manner.
- Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned by designated and/or authorized staff.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A Registered Behavioral Technician is a professional providing behavior services under the clinical supervision of a DIDD Approved Behavior Analyst, who has been approved to provide services through the Administrative Lead Agency and the Bureau of TennCare and who meets the following qualifications:
- Completion of a high school degree or its equivalent.
- Certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT).
- If you do not have certification, the ability to take a 40-hour online course and pass all of the components, the ability to take the exam and to pass the competency assessment.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:
- Valid Tennessee, Mississippi or Arkansas Regular Driver License (CDL- if required for the position.)
