Job Title: NEMT Credentialing and Onboarding Specialist
Location: Memphis, TN (in-person preferred; hybrid/remote considered)
Position Summary
Our client, a leading non-emergency medical transportation provider based in Memphis, is seeking a Credentialing and Onboarding Specialist for their growing organization. The Credentialing and Onboarding Specialist is responsible for ensuring transportation providers are fully credentialed, compliant, and well-supported throughout onboarding and ongoing credential management. This role ensures all provider credentials are accurately tracked, maintained, and reported in alignment with regulatory and company standards.
A critical component of the position is managing and continuously improving the credentialing database within Quickbase¹, including maintaining data integrity, optimizing workflows, and enabling cross-departmental coordination.
The specialist also leads the onboarding process in close partnership with the Provider Outreach Manager, ensuring that new providers are guided through each stage with clarity and consistency. As a key member of the Network Oversight team, this role blends hands-on credential tracking, regulatory compliance, and systems improvement with a strong focus on provider experience and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Credentialing Management for Existing Providers:
- Manage and oversee the credentialing process for all transportation providers within the existing network.
- Track expiration dates of credentials and implement a proactive reminder system to ensure timely renewals.
- Collaborate with providers to obtain and verify all required credentials accurately and on time.
- Oversee compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and coordinate external audits as needed.
- Maintain and govern the credentialing database (Quickbase), ensuring data accuracy, structure, and integrity.
- Identify and implement enhancements to the credentialing database to streamline workflows and improve usability.
- Work closely with internal teams, including compliance, provider relations, and operations, to support credentialing functions.
Onboarding and Credential Verification for New Providers:
- Lead the onboarding process in collaboration with the Provider Outreach Manager, ensuring providers meet all credentialing and compliance requirements
- Oversee credential validation, document collection, and contract distribution, with timely follow-up and accurate recordkeeping
- Coordinate onboarding tasks and serve as the primary point of contact to guide providers through each stage
- Act as a liaison between new providers and internal teams, delivering clear communication and support throughout the onboarding process
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- At least 2 years of experience in credentialing, compliance, or a related role within the transportation or healthcare industry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and database management; experience with credentialing or compliance systems (Quickbase is a plus)
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Effective communicator with strong collaboration skills for working with both internal teams and external providers
- Ability to analyze data and generate reports for compliance, audits, and process improvement
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting or external audit processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) industry standards
- Experience in contract management and provider onboarding
- Familiarity with credentialing or compliance tracking software platforms
