Salary Range: $65,000 – $75,000



About West Cancer Foundation

West Cancer Foundation is dedicated to breaking barriers to cancer care by providing patient resources, promoting early detection and education, and supporting community-based research.


Through transportation assistance, screenings, mental wellness support, and other donor-funded programs, we help ensure patients across our region have access to the care they need.


Our work is rooted in collaboration with healthcare providers, community organizations, and civic leaders across the Memphis region.



Position Overview

West Cancer Foundation is seeking a dynamic and relationship-driven Director of Community Outreach & Engagement to help expand the Foundation’s visibility, partnerships, and community impact across the Mid-South.


This role is responsible for building relationships with healthcare providers, community organizations, faith groups, and civic leaders to help connect individuals with resources and promote awareness of West Cancer Foundation’s programs.


The Director will serve as a key ambassador for the organization in the community and help coordinate outreach initiatives that support the Foundation’s mission.

Key Responsibilities


Community Partnerships & Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, community organizations, faith-based groups, elected officials, and civic leaders across the Memphis region.
  • Represent West Cancer Foundation at community events, health fairs, educational forums, and outreach activities.
  • Identify opportunities to expand awareness of the Foundation’s programs and services within underserved and high-need communities.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador for the organization, strengthening relationships that support the Foundation’s mission.


Outreach Program Coordination

  • Help plan and implement community outreach initiatives, including educational presentations, screenings, and community events.
  • Coordinate outreach calendars and ensure the Foundation maintains a strong presence in the community.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure outreach efforts align with program goals and messaging.
  • Assist with identifying community needs and opportunities to expand program reach.


Collaboration & Internal Coordination

  • Work closely with the President and leadership team to support community engagement priorities.
  • Collaborate with marketing, programs, and development teams to ensure outreach efforts are coordinated and effective.
  • Assist with collecting and sharing information on outreach activities and community engagement outcomes.


Organizational Support

  • Support the Foundation’s signature fundraising and community events as a representative of the organization.
  • Maintain awareness of community needs and available resources to help guide outreach efforts.
  • Contribute to ongoing relationship building with healthcare systems, community partners, and volunteers.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, nonprofit management, communications, social work, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in community outreach, nonprofit programs, healthcare outreach, or community engagement.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple outreach activities and partnerships.
  • Comfortable representing the organization in public settings and community meetings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems.
  • Availability for occasional evenings and weekends for community events.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in healthcare, community health, or nonprofit outreach.
  • Understanding of health disparities and barriers to care.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus but not required.
  • Experience with CRM systems


Work Environment / Physical Demands / Travel:

  • Typical office environment with moderate noise level.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop or crouch, use hands/wrists, talk, see, and hear for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
