Job Title: Nurse Practitioner – Psychiatric-Mental Health (PMHNP)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Nurse Practitioner with PMHNP credentials to provide comprehensive mental health care across the lifespan. This role blends general advanced nursing practice with specialized psychiatric expertise, focusing on assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of mental health conditions in diverse clinical settings.
Key Responsibilities:
General Nurse Practitioner Duties:
· Perform physical and mental health assessments.
· Order and interpret diagnostic tests and lab results.
· Develop and manage treatment plans for acute and chronic conditions.
· Prescribe medications and monitor therapeutic outcomes.
· Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease prevention.
· Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare providers.
· Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records (EHR).
Psychiatric-Mental Health Specialization:
· Conduct psychiatric evaluations and mental status exams.
· Diagnose and treat mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, and substance use disorders.
· Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications.
· Provide psychotherapy using evidence-based approaches (e.g., CBT, DBT).
· Perform suicide risk assessments and crisis interventions.
· Advocate for mental health awareness and patient rights.
Qualifications:
· Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing.
· Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
· Active RN and NP license with prescriptive authority.
· Clinical experience in both general and psychiatric settings preferred.
· Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and therapeutic modalities.
· Excellent communication, clinical judgment, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills:
· Experience in integrated care or collaborative practice models.
· Familiarity with trauma-informed care and culturally competent practices.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
· Proficiency in telehealth platforms and digital health tools.
