General Manager
High Dive sits at the center of Lakeview Marina, Birmingham’s waterfront mix of coffee, food, cocktails, and live music. As General Manager you will turn an early-stage venue into the spot people plan their nights around and talk about the next day. This role matters because you will own the guest experience, the numbers, and the culture that makes the marina feel alive.
Performance Objectives
- Own the full P&L and deliver profitable growth by tightening the mix of coffee, kitchen, bar, and events in the first 12 months.
- Recruit, train, and keep a high-energy team that delivers consistent, memorable service from morning pour-over to last call.
- Build and run a live-music and entertainment calendar that lifts weekday traffic and makes High Dive Birmingham’s default hang.
- Install simple operating systems that protect food quality, hold inventory variance tight, and keep service flowing across dayparts.
- Create local partnerships and community events that turn first-time guests into regulars and generate organic buzz.
- Put scalable processes and culture in place so the venue can grow without losing its soul.
Environment & Resources
You report directly to the owners and lead a small team (currently under 10, growing with you). You will work hands-on in a downtown Birmingham waterfront setting with standard hospitality tools, a focused operating budget, and real autonomy over programming, hiring, and the guest journey.
Essential Qualifications
- 5+ years running high-volume restaurants, bars, or mixed-concept venues with full P&L ownership.
- Proven ability to build and retain teams across coffee, kitchen, bar, and events in a fast, multi-daypart operation.
- Track record of growing revenue through programming and community-building, not just cost control.
- Comfort operating in an early-stage, hands-on environment where you wear many hats.
- Genuine love for hospitality, live music, and creating spaces people want to linger.
