Role Overview
Join Blazequel as a Fire Systems Commissioning Engineer and take ownership of critical fire safety projects protecting lives across the UK. You'll lead the commissioning of fire detection and suppression systems whilst managing installations and maintenance to exceptional quality and compliance standards. This role combines technical expertise with project leadership, overseeing complex installations from conception through handover across waste recycling, manufacturing, and power generation sectors. You'll coordinate with clients, engineers, and subcontractors using cutting-edge fire safety technologies. Working within our established team serving over 1,000 sites nationwide, you'll handle varied projects from small installations to major multi-site programmes, whilst contributing to team training and development. Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Technical Excellence
- Lead the commissioning of fire detection and suppression system installations to exceptional standards
- Develop comprehensive project documentation including concept designs, C&E schedules, inspection and test plans, and battery calculations
- Coordinate seamlessly with clients, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure full compliance
Installation & Commissioning Management
- Oversee installation of fire alarm, detection, and extinguishing systems
- Manage commissioning processes including system verification, programming assistance, testing, and handover
- Conduct thorough fault-finding and troubleshooting on both new and existing installations
Quality Assurance & Team Development
- Audit sites to maintain our exceptional quality and Health & Safety standards
- Provide technical support and mentoring to engineering teams
- Deliver training programmes in our purpose-built training facility to enhance team capabilities
Client Excellence
- Complete O&M manuals and manage client handovers and training sessions
- Handle snagging, warranty, and defect reports with professionalism
- Maintain consistent, proactive communication with all project stakeholders
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
- 5+ years hands-on experience commissioning addressable fire alarm systems and controls
- Proven track record in fire safety or related electrical/control systems industry
- Strong understanding of fire safety regulations and compliance requirements
Technical Skills
- Expertise in fire detection and suppression system technologies
- Proficiency with control systems and programming
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving capabilities
- IT literacy with ability to use commissioning software and documentation systems
