Nurse Manager – Labor & Delivery - Seattle, Washington
Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift
Compensation: $94,806 – $178,256/year
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Nurse Manager to lead the Labor & Delivery unit at a major medical center in Seattle. This role oversees clinical and operational activities in a busy L&D department serving a diverse population and is supported by a dedicated interdisciplinary leadership team.
Department Details:
- 30-bed labor unit with 9-bed OB ED and 4 ORs
- ~550–600 births per month; deliveries from 22–23 weeks gestation
- Level IV NICU (77 beds) with in-house 24/7 anesthesia, laborists, and neonatology
- Collaborative care teams including MFM, CNMs, OBs, and Family Medicine
- Supportive programs: Addiction recovery, Doulas, and Cultural Navigators
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide 24/7 clinical and operational oversight for L&D
- Lead staffing, quality improvement, DEI initiatives, and culture-building efforts
- Hire, mentor, and support nursing staff across all shifts
- Partner with CNS and perinatal educators on evidence-based practice and staff education
- Ensure adherence to standards of care and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with senior leadership and clinical supervisors for seamless unit operations
Qualifications:
- BSN or Master’s degree in Nursing
- Active RN license in Washington State
- BLS (AHA) certification
- Minimum 3 years of recent L&D nursing experience
- At least 2 years of charge, supervisory, or nurse management experience in L&D
- Experience with staffing strategy, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration
