A well-established, locally owned community bank in Nebraska is seeking a Controller to join its finance leadership team. What You’ll Be Responsible For 

  • As Controller, you will oversee the Bank’s accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting while maintaining strong internal controls and regulatory compliance. 
  • Key responsibilities include: 
  • Leading the monthly and annual close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation 
  • Managing the general ledger and accounting functions, including accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaids, and accruals 
  • Preparing and filing Call Reports and other regulatory filings 
  • Maintaining and enhancing internal controls and accounting policies in accordance with GAAP and FDICIA requirements 
  • Partnering with the CFO and leadership team on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis 
  • Coordinating with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulators 
  • Supporting preparation of Board and management reporting 
  • Leading and developing the accounting team, providing mentorship and guidance

What They’re Looking For 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 
  • CPA, strongly preferred but not required 
  • 3–5+ years of experience in public accounting or community banking 
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting 
  • Experience with bank regulatory reporting  
  • Proven ability to lead and develop accounting staff 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills 
  • Ability to manage deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
