Controller + Be a Leader + Omaha 

If you’re the kind of accounting leader who doesn’t just close the books, but wants to build, improve, and modernize how it all gets done. We’re partnering with a well-established organization in the transportation space - they’ve got a strong foundation and a loyal team. They are seeking a hands-on Controller who’s excited to step in, create structure, elevate the team, and bring systems and reporting to the next level. 

What You’ll Be Doing 

• Own and lead the monthly close process from start to finish 
• Ensure accuracy across the general ledger, financial reporting, and reconciliations 
• Oversee A/P and A/R functions, driving efficiency and accountability 
• Partner across the business to support operational decision-making 
• Act as the primary liaison for external audits and compliance activities 
• Support budgeting and financial planning processes 
• Work closely with leadership while also operating independently in day-to-day execution 

Where You’ll Make an Impact 

• Create structure where it doesn’t exist today (processes and documentation) 
• Elevate reporting and visibility through tools like Power BI  
• Support and optimize ERP systems  
• Identify ways to streamline workflows and reduce manual work 
• Bring a more proactive, forward-looking approach to accounting and reporting 

Leadership Responsibilities 

• Lead and develop a team of 5 across A/P, A/R, and staff accounting 
• Coach, mentor, and raise the bar on performance and accountability 
• Empower the team while also being willing to roll up your sleeves when needed 

What They’re Looking For 

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience 
• Strong experience with month-end close and financial reporting 
• Proven ability to improve processes, not just maintain them 
• Comfort working with systems, data, and reporting tools 
• Natural curiosity around technology and automation 
• A self-starter who thrives in environments where you can figure things out and build as you go
