Senior Accountant + Inventory + Council Bluffs

If you’re an experienced accountant who enjoys having visibility into the entire business—not just one piece of the accounting function—this could be a great opportunity. Our client, an established, privately held organization is looking for a Senior Accountant to take ownership of day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, inventory accounting, and the month-end close process.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with company leadership and have a direct impact on the financial information used to make business decisions.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Manage and reconcile inventory-related accounting activity
  • Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting
  • Monitor accounts receivable and assist with collection efforts
  • Support cash flow planning, forecasting, and other financial analysis
  • Handle applicable sales, use, and other tax reporting requirements
  • Review accounting processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Partner directly with leadership to explain financial results and provide useful insight into the business
  • Assist with additional accounting projects and initiatives as needed

What They’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of progressive, full-cycle accounting experience
  • Strong experience working with physical inventory and inventory reconciliations
  • Experience in a dealership, transportation, equipment, distribution, or similar inventory-driven environment is highly preferred
  • Solid understanding of month-end close and financial statement preparation
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working within QuickBooks or a comparable accounting system
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing responsibilities, and take ownership of deadlines
  • Comfortable communicating financial information to operational and non-accounting leaders
  • CPA or similar professional designation is a plus, but not required

Why Consider It?

This isn’t a narrowly defined accounting position where you’ll spend your days focused on one small piece of the ledger. You’ll have exposure across the accounting function, work directly with decision-makers, and have the opportunity to improve processes as the organization continues to evolve.
