Controller + Design Industry + Omaha

If you find satisfaction in helping a visionary team turn bold ideas into reality — and love ensuring every detail behind the scenes adds up — this opportunity could be a perfect fit.

Our client is a well-established firm with a team of 80+ professionals and a growing regional presence. They’re searching for a Controller to bring clarity, insight, and financial direction to their creative mission.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in both the strategic and tactical aspects of finance. You’ll guide a small accounting team, partner directly with firm leadership, and build the financial infrastructure that supports innovation and growth.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Direct all day-to-day accounting functions — from payroll and billing to reconciliations and reporting.
  • Manage financial close cycles and deliver timely, accurate financial statements.
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analyses that inform business strategy.
  • Monitor liquidity, oversee banking activity, and ensure strong financial controls.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members to support their professional growth.
  • Streamline accounting systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Serve as the key contact for audits, tax compliance, and financial reviews.
  • Translate financial data into actionable insights for firm leadership.

What They’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 in a leadership capacity.
  • Expertise in GAAP and a strong understanding of financial operations.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with excellent judgment and integrity.
  • Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Ajera or Deltek VantagePoint is helpful.
  • Experience in architecture, engineering, or construction industries preferred.

The Culture:

This team values collaboration, open communication, and continuous improvement. You’ll join a group that’s passionate about their craft and equally committed to supporting one another.

Here, your work helps fuel inspiration — ensuring great design is backed by great financial stewardship.
