Director of Operations + Retail

If you’re a retail operations leader who would rather prevent problems than spend your days putting out fires, this could be an opportunity worth exploring. We’re partnering with our client, an established, multi-location organization looking for a hands-on Director of Operations who can bring consistency, accountability, and a proactive approach to its locations.

What You’ll Do

• Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple retail locations
• Lead and support district-level management while providing broader guidance to store leadership
• Regularly visit locations to understand challenges, identify opportunities, and stay connected to employees
• Look ahead and address operational issues before they become larger problems
• Identify opportunities to improve store performance, increase sales, and strengthen execution
• Ensure stores are properly staffed, trained, stocked, and operating to expectations
• Oversee training initiatives and help create consistency across locations
• Coordinate equipment, maintenance, and repair needs
• Establish clear expectations and follow through on operational priorities
• Serve as a key communication link between executive leadership and field operations
• Use operational systems and reporting to track priorities and maintain accountability

What They’re Looking For

• Multi-location retail operations experience is required
• Experience leading managers and influencing teams across multiple locations
• Approachable, personable leadership style with the ability to connect with employees at all levels
• Strong communicator who can give and receive feedback without taking things personally
• Naturally curious and willing to ask questions, challenge existing processes, and consider new ideas
• Proactive mindset — someone who anticipates what needs attention rather than simply reacting
• Comfortable spending significant time visiting locations and being visible in the field
• Ability to balance the details of daily operations with broader business priorities
• Experience reading and understanding financial statements is a plus
