The Opportunity
We’re partnering with a large, well-established organization seeking an Accounts Payable Lead to support day-to-day operations and keep things running smoothly. You’ll act as the right hand to A/P leadership—guiding workflow, supporting a team, and ensuring accuracy and timeliness across the board.
This is a long-term temporary role (project expected to run through early 2028), offering stability with flexibility.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Serve as the primary resource for a team of A/P Specialists—answering questions, troubleshooting issues, and keeping workflow on track
- Partner with leadership to improve processes, drive efficiencies, and identify areas for improvement
- Oversee vendor maintenance, invoice processing flow, and ensure accuracy in payments
- Handle escalated vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies
- Support monthly close activities including reconciliations, accruals, and reclass entries
- Coordinate the 1099 process and assist with audit requests
- Act as a liaison between A/P, Finance, Purchasing, and external partners
- Assist with weekly check runs and help optimize payment timing and discounts
- Provide backup support where needed to maintain team productivity
What They’re Looking For
- 5+ years of Accounts Payable experience with increasing responsibility
- Strong understanding of A/P processes, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Natural problem solver with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Comfortable leading workflow and supporting a team (formal leadership not required, but helpful)
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through
- Experience in a larger or more complex environment is a plus
- Exposure to ERP systems (Lawson is a bonus, not required)
