Controller + Hands-On Leadership in a Growing, Blue-Collar Environment + Omaha

Are you a roll-up-your-sleeves accounting leader who thrives in a casual, down-to-earth culture? This Controller role offers the best of both worlds: the chance to lead a small, dedicated accounting team while staying close to the numbers in a company that keeps things real. If you’re looking for an environment where jeans are the dress code, teamwork is essential, and your impact is felt daily, this could be the opportunity for you.

What You’ll Do

As the Controller, you’ll be the financial backbone of the business, overseeing both people and processes. You’ll manage a team of four, while staying hands-on with the details that keep the books running smoothly. Expect variety in your day—whether it’s handling month-end close, reconciling bank statements, or making sure expense allocations are accurate and timely.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing a team of four accountants
  • Overseeing bank relationships, deposits, and reconciliations
  • Managing accounts payable with high transaction volume
  • Handling journal entries, month-end close, and financial reporting for ownership
  • Tracking depreciation, billing, and insurance claim follow-up
  • Ensuring expense allocations and driver-related costs are properly recorded
  • Utilizing McCloud software (experience a plus, not required)

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • Culture: Relaxed and blue-collar friendly—jeans, jokes, and a no-frills atmosphere
  • People: Small, tight-knit team with about 25 office staff and a large driver workforce
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30–5, no crazy hours or late nights

What Our Client is Looking For

  • 2–3 years of Controller-level experience, ideally in a blue-collar transportation industry
  • Experience managing a team (direct leadership required)
  • Hands-on approach—someone comfortable pitching in when needed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA not required)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities

If you’re looking for a leadership role where you’ll be valued for both your strategic insight and your willingness to dig into the details, this is your chance. Join a team that works hard, laughs often, and takes pride in what they do—apply today and bring your expertise to an environment where you’ll truly be appreciated.
