Controller Consultant + 6-Month Contract + Omaha

Are you an experienced Controller who enjoys rolling up your sleeves, taking ownership of the accounting function, and helping develop others? We are partnering with our client seeking a hands-on Controller Consultant to provide leadership and stability during a planned transition. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with a small team, managing day-to-day accounting operations, and making an immediate impact without a long-term commitment.

This is a six-month temporary consulting assignment with a flexible schedule and a casual, professional work environment. The position is fully on-site in Omaha.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Oversee daily accounting activities and maintain consistency in financial operations.
• Work closely with the CFO to support accounting needs and reporting requirements.
• Provide hands-on training and mentorship to an accounting professional preparing for increased responsibilities.
• Evaluate existing accounting procedures and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Serve as the primary resource for accounting questions and operational issues.
• Ensure a smooth transition of accounting responsibilities throughout the engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• Previous Controller experience within a privately held company required.
• Strong background in general ledger accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting.
• Ability to work independently and manage accounting operations with minimal oversight.
• Experience mentoring or developing accounting staff.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working in a small accounting department and remaining actively involved in daily responsibilities.
