Description
We are currently hiring a Parts Counter Assistant Manager for a leading luxury and specialty vehicle dealership. This position is ideal for an experienced and systems-minded professional who’s ready to help organize, modernize, and lead a parts department with complex inventory, multiple vendor relationships, and a fast-moving service environment.
While the title is Assistant Manager, this is a key leadership role with an eye toward full department ownership. We’re looking for someone with diverse industry experience—ideally across OEM, independent shops, and specialty service environments—who is eager to bring structure, strategy, and process improvements to a growing operation.
This role is client-facing internally (working closely with service technicians and internal teams) but has minimal retail interaction, and is a great opportunity for someone who thrives behind the scenes while driving measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and collaborate with the Parts Manager to learn and influence all aspects of parts operations: staffing, vendor management, inventory control, and procurement
- Assist with daily parts orders and monitor stock levels, usage rates, and overstock risk
- Conduct regular inventory checks and help prepare for audits, reconciliations, and cycle counts
- Help implement new systems and processes to improve workflow, accuracy, and profitability
- Support pricing strategy reviews, track margins, and ensure part availability aligns with service needs
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with wholesale and specialty parts suppliers
- Keep the parts area organized, well-stocked, and running efficiently
- Participate in departmental meetings, reporting, and KPI tracking
- Demonstrate leadership with a mindset toward continuous improvement and future department ownership
- Take on increasing levels of responsibility with a clear track to move into the Parts Manager role
Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in automotive parts management or counter support
- Experience across a variety of platforms (OEM, independent, or high-volume specialty) preferred
- Strong understanding of parts ordering systems, inventory controls, and vendor coordination
- Ability to read technical documents, part diagrams, and understand vehicle systems
- Proven ability to lead or support teams, implement systems, and drive accountability
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple priorities
- Strong communication skills and a professional work ethic
- Comfortable working primarily in a back-of-house role, with internal teams
- ASE Certification is a plus, but not required
