BigFoot Staffing is partnering with a well-established industrial equipment and manufacturing organization to hire an Engineering Supervisor. This is a direct hire opportunity with a stable company that designs, builds, services, and supports complex industrial equipment systems for customers across a range of applications.
This role is a strong fit for an experienced engineer who enjoys both hands-on design work and team leadership. The Engineering Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day work of a small engineering team while also contributing directly to design projects involving industrial compressor systems and related mechanical, electrical, and controls components.
This position is expected to be a blend of leadership and individual contribution, with approximately 30% of the role focused on supervising, coaching, assigning work, and supporting team performance, and approximately 70% focused on hands-on engineering design. The ideal candidate will bring advanced technical knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to support engineering execution in a fast-paced manufacturing and customer-focused environment.
Job Duties:
- Provide day-to-day leadership for a team of design engineers and electrical engineers
- Assign and delegate engineering work while balancing priorities, workload, and project timelines
- Monitor engineering progress to help ensure schedules, quality expectations, and project requirements are met
- Perform hands-on design work for complex industrial compressor systems and related equipment solutions
- Create and support component drawings, 2D drawings, schematics, and 3D system models based on customer and project requirements
- Oversee and support the preparation of assembly drawings, electrical schematics, P&ID drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation
- Review and approve drawings, design releases, engineering changes, and related documentation prior to release
- Provide technical guidance, training, and coaching to engineering team members and support departments
- Conduct performance reviews, support goal setting, and help address employee performance issues in coordination with engineering leadership
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and developing engineering team members
- Support standard product design activities for key customer programs
- Coordinate with production, sales, service, and other internal departments to support customer projects and department goals
- Support department KPI performance related to schedule, quality, throughput, and engineering execution
- Promote engineering best practices, standard work, and process improvement initiatives
- Support production, commissioning, installation, and field troubleshooting activities as needed
- Serve as a technical resource for complex projects, customer programs, and escalated field support matters
- Provide support for sales orders, cost estimates, design consultation, and installations
- Define components for product modifications, add-ons, retrofit kits, sequencers, alternate part options, cost savings initiatives, and shortage-related substitutions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
- 7+ years of relevant mechanical and electrical system design integration experience
- 2+ years of experience in a lead engineer, team lead, supervisory, or similar technical leadership role
- Experience assigning and prioritizing engineering work, coaching team members, and supporting team development
- Experience conducting performance reviews, supporting hiring, and helping onboard engineering employees
- Advanced experience specifying mechanical, electrical, and communications solutions
- Strong hands-on design background with complex industrial equipment, mechanical systems, or related engineered products
- Advanced 3D solid modeling experience, large assembly management, and detailed drawing development
- Experience with CREO, Windchill, and/or Microstation is preferred
- Advanced knowledge of fabrication and assembly procedures, tools, and techniques
- Experience with electrical controls and components, 4-20mA signals, 480VAC power wiring, 120VAC control, 24VDC control, and HMI controls
- Ability to perform hands-on mechanical and electrical system troubleshooting in the field as needed
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and multiple active projects
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to travel up to 10% to job sites as needed
- Ability to occasionally lift 25–50 lbs.
- Comfortable wearing PPE and occasionally working on or around a manufacturing floor
Compensation, Schedule, and Benefits:
- $105,000–$120,000 annually DOE
- Monday–Friday schedule
