Warehouse Operations Lead
Orders leave this building on time, intact, and accurate—or the client relationship does not. This role owns the floor that turns inbound freight, inventory, and pick-pack-ship into promises kept for e-commerce and retail brands. You will set the pace for a small, high-trust operation that is raising its standards while preparing the warehouse for greater automation—without losing the service that clients already count on.
Performance Objectives
- Hit daily ship-by cutoffs at or above agreed service levels, with order accuracy sustained at best-in-class levels across peak and non-peak volume.
- Staff, sequence, and coach receiving, putaway, picking, packing, kitting, and returns so labor productivity meets plan without sacrificing quality or safety.
- Hold inventory accuracy through disciplined cycle counts, exception clearance, and same-day resolution of shortages, damages, and mis-slots.
- Run a safe floor: near-miss reporting, equipment standards, and corrective action that keep recordable incidents trending down.
- Surface client-impacting issues the same day they appear, with a clear recovery plan and a closed loop to account management.
- Identify and implement process changes—slotting, wave design, packing standards, or simple automation—that cut touches, errors, or overtime within the quarter.
- Build a bench of leads who can run a shift to standard when you are off the floor.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven leadership of a fulfillment or distribution floor through daily volume, including peak, with measurable on-time and accuracy results.
- Hands-on command of receiving, inventory control, pick-pack-ship, returns, and kitting or light assembly.
- Fluency in a WMS: directing work, reading exceptions, and using data to rebalance labor the same shift.
- A safety record you can explain, including how you coached behavior and closed hazards.
- Clear written and verbal communication with associates and with people who own the client relationship.
- Comfort introducing process or technology change without letting service slip.
Role Selling Points
- Real ownership of the operation, not a narrow slice of a massive network.
- Direct line from your decisions to client retention in ecommerce and retail fulfillment.
- A leadership team investing toward a more automated warehouse while still valuing operators who know the work.
- Breadth across warehousing, shipping, returns, and kitting—useful range if you want to grow with the operation.
