Customs Brokerage Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all aspects of the customs brokerage operation, ensuring timely and accurate filing of import and export entries in compliance with CBP regulations, trade agreements, and client requirements.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of customs brokers and entry writers, establishing performance standards, workflows, and training programs to maintain a high-functioning brokerage department.
• Serve as the subject matter expert on tariff classifications, HTS codes, valuation, country of origin determinations, and admissibility, providing guidance to clients and internal teams on complex regulatory matters.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Partner Government Agencies (PGAs), freight forwarders, and port officials to facilitate smooth cargo clearance.
• Monitor changes in trade policy, customs regulations, and import/export compliance requirements, proactively communicating impacts to clients and implementing necessary operational adjustments.
• Conduct internal audits of entry filings, documentation, and recordkeeping practices to ensure regulatory compliance and minimize exposure to penalties or delays.
• Collaborate with the operations and vessel agency teams to coordinate customs clearance timelines with port arrival and cargo discharge schedules, optimizing the end-to-end logistics chain.
