DIRECTOR - HVAC OPERATIONS


Operational Leadership

  • Directly oversee Service, Installation, Purchasing, and Warehouse operations.
  • Leverage Davisware to drive scheduling, job costing, and KPI tracking.
  • Monitor key metrics like service revenue, job profitability, maintenance contract performance, inventory turns, backlog, and customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with department managers to solve workflow bottlenecks and strengthen interdepartmental communication.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, licensing, and OSHA guidelines.


Strategic & Financial Management

  • Collaborate with the President and GM on budgets, targets, and performance goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement across departments to boost efficiency and profitability.
  • Support margin improvement and oversee pricing strategies and proposals.
  • Review departmental P&Ls, variances, and dashboards to keep the business on track.


People & Culture

  • Lead and mentor a team of 4 department managers focused on building accountability and high performance.
  • Support HR in recruiting, onboarding, and retention strategies.
  • Champion training, certification, and leadership development opportunities.
  • Foster a family-oriented, respectful, and safety-first culture.


Customer & Vendor Relations

  • Deliver outstanding customer service and resolve escalated issues with urgency.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Represent Burkholder’s at industry and community events.
  • Negotiate vendor agreements and partnerships to support business needs.


Requirements for this role:

  • 7+ years of leadership experience in HVAC, mechanical contracting, or related fields.
  • Proven success managing operations, budgets, and multi-department teams.
  • Strong P&L and financial acumen.
  • Experience with ERP/CRM systems (Davisware or similar).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.


Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Experience scaling service/ maintenance operations.
  • Familiarity with EOS/Traction or other business operating systems.
  • Professional certifications (NATE, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, etc.).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
