POSITION SUMMARY

The Inside Sales Applications Engineer plays a critical role at the intersection of engineering and sales, serving as a technical resource throughout the pre- and post-sale processes. This role is responsible for evaluating customer requirements, designing tailored solutions, and preparing competitive, technically sound proposals and cost estimates for municipal and industrial water treatment (cleaning and filtration) systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of mechanical and process design.

Working closely with our outside sales team, engineering group, and production staff, the Inside Sales Applications Engineer translates customer specifications into conceptual system layouts and generates supporting documentation, including the development of technical drawings using 2D and 3D CAD tools. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical design with business strategy and is looking to grow their career in the water or environmental industries.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

● Support outside sales and project development by preparing proposals, technical data sheets, and cost estimates.

● Design and layout water treatment systems and components using AutoCAD (2D) and SolidWorks or similar (3D).

● Interpret client specifications, drawings, and RFQs to determine technical requirements.

● Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and production teams to ensure alignment between proposal and execution.

● Maintain CRM and proposal tracking tools to manage follow-ups and reporting.

● Lead order entry meetings and the entry of orders into SAP company programs

● Engage in technical discussions with clients to ensure clarity and alignment on proposed solutions.

● Occasionally assist in site visits or virtual meetings to support the sales process & data collection for project applications.

● Occasionally working with the outside manufacturing representatives' network.

● Performs all other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

● Bachelor’s degree in: Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field or experience.

● 1–3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the water or environmental sector (preferred 3 - 5 years/internships/co-ops considered on site).

● Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).

● Strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.

● Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

● Team-oriented with a strong desire to learn and contribute.

● Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, both written and verbal.

● Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

● Adheres to safety guidelines and protocols.

● Ability to perform in a strong team working environment and grow teamwork & leadership.

● Familiarity with Municipal water or wastewater treatment underdrain systems, package plants, pressure vessel equipment, sludge removal systems, clarification, filtration, or related drinking water process-related equipment is a plus.

● Lean Six Sigma experience is a plus.

● ISO 9001 experience is a plus.
