Satellite System Architect

Our elite client seeks a highly skilled Satellite System Architect for a permanent, full-time role. Location: Our client, based in our nation’s capital, Ottawa, ON, our client values collaboration and follows a hybrid work model. Employees work in the office Tuesday, Wednesday to Thursday, with flexible work-from-home on Mondays and Fridays - WFH (Non-Negotiable).

Education and Mandatory Experience Required

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
• Proven experience in satellite system architecture and design, with a minimum of 8-10 years in similar roles
• Strong knowledge of satellite communication protocols, orbital mechanics, and space systems
• Experience with software defined satellite communication payloads
• Familiarity with regulatory bodies and space industry standards
• CGP security clearance eligible
• Must be Canadian citizen or possess valid permanent resident status

Main Responsibilities

• Define and validate the system architecture and requirements, ensuring alignment with project goals and customer needs. Issue recommendations and influence satellite system design
• Contribute to the design and development of end-to-end communication, resource allocation, network management, service availability, EPFD compliance, satellite payload management, spectrum management, and user terminal integration
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers
• Develop and maintain system architecture documentation, including subsystems definition, interfaces, and data flows
• Plan and collaborate on the integration and testing of all system elements
• Identify and manage technical risks, developing mitigation strategies and contingency plans
• Stay current with emerging satellite technologies and contribute innovative ideas
• Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure project success
