The Head of HR will define, build, and lead the people, talent, and culture strategy to align with the company’s business objectives. This newly created role will drive the ongoing growth and transformation of this mission-driven organization. The ideal candidate will be a servant leader with a proven track record of collaborating with an Executive Leadership Team and a team of HR professionals to enhance the company’s talent profile across the employee lifecycle. This position is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and reports directly to the President. This role is hybrid and located at the company's corporate offices in Houston, Texas.



The Head of HR will:

  • Lead the transformative, proactive, business-focused HR strategy capabilities and partner with leaders to define the strategy of the future.
  • Design and implement initiatives that reinforce the core values and enhance the family-oriented culture.
  • Develop a strategy to scale the employee population effectively, aligning talent acquisition with the organization’s growth and evolving needs.
  • Structure the HR team to ensure alignment with organizational goals, fostering collaboration and efficiency among team members.
  • Serve as a key Executive, partnering across functions and to provide creative, mission driven thought leadership on critical people strategy.
  • Drive an impactful recruiting strategy for the company ensuring effective recruiting practices that drive hiring of the right people in all areas.
  • Build an end-to-end talent capability that supports the business’ ability to grow and provide superior outcomes within the markets served.
  • Assess and anticipate the organization’s talent needs to best understand current and future leadership gaps and bench strength, and then design and implement a comprehensive leadership development strategy to meet future needs.
  • Develop strategies to measure and improve employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Increase visibility of high potential talent to expand career and development opportunities.
  • Optimize the employment brand to establish the company as a destination for market impact and personal growth.
  • Problem-solve across the company to leverages data-driven decision- making.
  • Build authentic, engaging, cooperative partnerships across the company. Develop and maintain a spirit of collaboration, meaningful feedback loops and communication across the organization.
  • Demonstrate competency for total rewards initiatives, including compensation and benefit plans (including health, welfare and retirement plans) and ensuring compliance and effective cost management.


Professional Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Human resource credential such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR
  • At least 15 years of HR experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role for a business unit with at least 500 employees
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful HR programs and initiatives
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices and employment laws
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with employees at all levels
  • Experience in managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Experience and confidence with public speaking and presenting to audiences
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and build on current skills
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively
