Status: Part-Time Role up to 20 hours per week at $25 per hour

Shepherd Church is a new church plant launching August 2025 with a mission to Know Jesus, Serve Jesus, and Share Jesus. We offer a supportive pastoral team, a simple vision and strategy, the opportunity to develop a growing children’s ministry from the ground up, as well as make a lasting impact on the next generation.


POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a positive, relational and organized Children’s Director/Pastor to lead and develop our Shepherd Kids Ministry (Birth–5th grade). This role is designed for a team-builder with a heart for kids, families, and equipping others to disciple the next generation. The Children’s Director/Pastor will oversee all aspects of Shepherd Kids; creating a safe, fun, and spiritually enriching environment where children can encounter Jesus and grow in their faith. This leader will build strong volunteer teams, partner with parents,and work alongside our pastoral staff to align Shepherd Kids with the overall mission of Shepherd Church.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Volunteer Development

  • Recruit, train, and equip volunteers for Sunday kids ministry services as well as occasional events.
  • Build a healthy volunteer culture marked by preparation, consistency, encouragement, and spiritual maturity.
  • Provide ongoing support and encouragement for team members.


2. Sunday Gathering

  • Lead the weekly execution of Sunday kids ministry services for multiple age groups (Nursery, Toddler/Preschool, Elementary).
  • Prepare age-appropriate curriculum that aligns with Shepherd Church values and helps kids grow in Christ.
  • Ensure environments are safe, engaging, and spiritually impactful.


3. Family & Parent Engagement

  • Follow up with new families that have attended a Sunday service.
  • Pursue meaningful connections with parents and kids through check-ins, encouragement and prayer.


4. Build Community in Kids Ministry

  • Create opportunities for kids to grow in Christ and develop friendships with each other.


5. Administrative & Operational Oversight

  • Manage scheduling, check-in systems, background checks, and classroom supplies.
  • Maintain excellent communication with parents, volunteers, and church leadership.
  • Ensure all safety and security policies are followed, including child protection and incident procedures.


6. Events & Outreach

  • Collaborate with other ministries for church-wide activities and outreach opportunities.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A passionate, relational Christ-follower with a clear calling to minister to children and families.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, not just programs.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in children’s ministry (church or parachurch); leadership within a growing ministry is a strong asset.
  • Alignment with Shepherd Church’s vision, values, and theology.
