Senior Engineer – Risk Engineering and Safety 

Mossville, IL or Tucson, AZ - Full Time

 

Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Mossville, IL or Tucson, AZ (or Remote). As a member of our team, the selected candidate will support the Electrification program by leading risk engineering and safety initiatives for Dynamic Energy Transfer (DET) systems. This senior role is critical in ensuring product safety, compliance, and reliability by proactively identifying risks, developing mitigation strategies, and aligning designs with international safety standards.


Duties:

  • Lead risk assessments, safety analyses, and hazard identification activities for DET systems.
  • Develop and maintain risk management documentation including DFMEA, PFMEA, and safety case reports.
  • Ensure compliance with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, ISO 26262) and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with design, systems, and validation teams to integrate safety requirements into product development.
  • Support design reviews, audits, and regulatory submissions by providing safety engineering expertise.
  • Work cross-functionally to drive risk mitigation strategies from concept through production.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship in safety engineering best practices and tools.
  • Monitor evolving regulatory and safety landscapes to proactively update risk management processes.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in risk engineering, functional safety, or product compliance.
  • Strong background in hazard analysis, FMEA, and risk management frameworks.
  • Proven ability to apply safety standards and regulatory requirements to product development.
  • Strong systems thinking and ability to evaluate complex interdependencies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional engagement.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate issues and drive resolution.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with electrification technologies such as batteries, power electronics, and electric drives.
  • Knowledge of mining equipment, heavy machinery, or off-highway vehicles.
  • Familiarity with software safety concepts and validation techniques.
  • Hands-on experience supporting safety audits, regulatory inspections, or product certifications.
