Engine Air Systems Engineer

Lafayette, IN – Full Time

 

Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team for our customer's facility in Lafayette, IN. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will be an Engine Air Systems Engineer who supports the design, development, and integration of engine air and exhaust systems for large internal combustion engines. This role focuses on exhaust manifolds, intake routing, turbochargers, and related air-handling components. The position works under the guidance of senior engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers to deliver reliable, manufacturable engine system solutions.

 

This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration with the opportunity of professional growth, and additional opportunities within our organization.

 

Duties:

  • Support the design and layout of engine air and exhaust systems, including exhaust manifolds, Intake routing and ducting, turbochargers and related hardware.
  • Assist with system packaging and integration to ensure proper fit, performance, and interface alignment with adjacent engine systems.
  • Create and update CAD models, layouts, and basic system documentation.
  • Work with suppliers to support component development, drawing reviews, and issue resolution.
  • Support design verification and validation activities, including data review and test support.
  • Assist in troubleshooting technical issues related to performance, thermal behavior, vibration, and manufacturability.
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from senior engineers.
  • Support engineering change activities and documentation updates.
  • Follow established engineering standards, processes, and quality requirements.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Foundational knowledge of engine systems, air handling, and exhaust components.
  • Basic understanding of thermodynamics and fluid flow principles.
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools or willingness to learn company-standard design systems.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
