Engine Air Systems Engineer II
Lafayette, IN – Full Time
Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team for our customer's facility in Lafayette, IN. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will be an Engine Air Systems Engineer who is responsible for the design, development, integration, and validation of engine air and exhaust systems for large internal combustion engines. This role focuses on exhaust manifolds, intake systems, turbochargers, and related air-handling components, ensuring robust performance, durability, manufacturability, and compliance with regulatory and customer requirements. The position works cross-functionally with internal teams and external suppliers to deliver high-quality engine system solutions.

Duties:
- Lead the design and system-level layout of engine air and exhaust systems, including Exhaust manifolds, Intake routing and ducting, and turbochargers and associated components.
- Develop and maintain system architectures, packaging layouts, and interface definitions.
- Perform system integration to ensure compatibility with engine structures, aftertreatment, cooling, and surrounding subsystems.
- Collaborate closely with suppliers on component design, technical reviews, validation plans, and issue resolution.
- Support design verification and validation activities, including analysis, testing, and durability assessments.
- Identify and resolve technical issues related to performance, thermal behavior, vibration, manufacturability, and serviceability.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance to less-experienced engineers.
- Support product development milestones, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure designs meet applicable engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and quality expectations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Significant experience in engine system design, with emphasis on air systems, exhaust systems, intake routing, and turbocharger applications.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and engine system integration.
- Experience with system layout, packaging, and interface management in a complex engine environment.
- Proven ability to work directly with suppliers on technical development and problem-solving.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
