Senior Mechanical Technician

Sioux Falls, SD – Full Time

 

Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team for our customer's facility in Davenport, IA. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will be a highly skilled, mechanically inclined technician to support the development, testing, and validation of heavy-duty mechanical systems and equipment. This role is ideal for a higher-level technician who brings strong hands-on mechanical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to think critically in a fast-paced, product-focused environment. The ideal candidate will be someone who can troubleshoot complex mechanical systems, support testing and validation efforts, and contribute meaningfully to product improvement and reliability.

  

This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration with the opportunity of professional growth, and additional opportunities within our organization.

 

Duties:

  • Assemble, modify, and maintain mechanical systems, components, and prototypes.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and provide effective, practical solutions.
  • Support product testing and validation activities, including data collection and interpretation.
  • Assist with strain gaging, instrumentation, and test setup as needed.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and test teams to support product development.
  • Document test results, observations, and recommendations clearly and accurately.
  • Ensure equipment and test setups are safe, reliable, and ready for use.


Requirements:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience working on complex machinery or equipment.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve independently.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems and components.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and make sound technical decisions.
  • Comfortable working in a shop and test environment.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with validation or testing activities.
  • Familiarity with strain gaging, sensors, or data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret test data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Background as a senior technician, engineering technician, or similar advanced technical role.
