Automation Engineer
Stoughton, WI - Full Time
Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Stoughton, WI. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will be a driven Automation Engineer who will have 3-5 years of experience working with PLC systems, Allen Bradley controllers, Ladder Logic, Python, and other automation technologies. The successful candidates will contribute to the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of automation systems in a variety of manufacturing settings. Experience with sidewall systems or welding processes is a significant plus.
This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration with the opportunity of professional growth, and additional opportunities within our organization.
Duties:
- Design, develop, and troubleshoot automation systems, including PLC programming (Allen Bradley), Ladder Logic, and control systems for industrial applications.
- Write, test, and debug control systems, including scripting in Python to improve automation efficiency and performance.
- Work closely with the production and engineering teams to identify automation needs and optimize manufacturing processes.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the integration of automated systems with existing manufacturing infrastructure.
- Assist in the selection and installation of automation hardware, including sensors, actuators, and control panels.
- Conduct regular maintenance on automated systems, ensuring system reliability and uptime.
- Document processes, procedures, and system modifications to maintain proper records and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Continuously monitor, evaluate, and improve system performance, identifying opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
- Provide technical support and training to other team members and operators on automated systems and controls.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in automation engineering, PLC programming (Allen Bradley), Ladder Logic, and control systems.
- Proficiency in Python or other programming/scripting languages for control system applications.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills related to automation equipment, controls, and systems.
- Experience in mechanical or electrical systems, particularly in industrial manufacturing environments.
- Bonus for candidates with experience in sidewall systems (e.g., Great Dane, Wabash) or welding automation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), or a related field, or equivalent technical experience.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- Experience with automated systems in the transportation, manufacturing, or heavy equipment industries.
- Familiarity with robotics, SCADA systems, or other advanced automation technologies.
- Welding experience or knowledge of automated welding processes.
