Combine Designer

Hesston, KS – Full Time


Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Hesston, Kansas. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will have a deep understanding of combine functionality, including threshing, separating, and cleaning systems, along with experience in the structural design of complex mechanical systems. A background in off-highway equipment and familiarity with both mechanical and electrical integration is strongly preferred.


This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration with the opportunity of professional growth, and additional opportunities within our organization.


Duties:

  • CPM- current product maintenance – updating existing issues in the design – find solution for the said issues
  • Drive continuous improvement of existing combine platforms by analyzing field performance, identifying design shortcomings, and implementing corrective solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (mechanical, hydraulic, manufacturing) to integrate complex subsystems in a cohesive design.
  • Optimize systems such as threshing mechanisms, cleaning systems, grain handling, operator cab layout, and powertrain integration.
  • Participate in field testing and validation to confirm design integrity and performance under real-world agricultural conditions.
  • Apply root cause analysis and structured problem-solving techniques to resolve technical issues in current and future products.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of design updates, test results, and engineering change notices in accordance with industry and company standards.


Requirements:

  • Combine experience.
  • 5–10 years of direct experience in the design of agricultural combines or large off-road agricultural machinery.
  • Proven expertise in mechanical design, including welded structures, moving assemblies, and complex mechanisms.
  • Hands-on experience with CREO.
  • Familiarity with hydraulics, electrical systems (e.g., sensors, harness routing), and control systems related to combine operation.
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management and design validation processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.


Preferred:

  • BS degree in engineering.
