Industrial Controls Technician 

Stoughton, WI- Full Time

 

Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Stoughton, WI. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will support the company and maximize uptime of manufacturing machinery, equipment, and/or facilities by proactively tracking, inspecting, servicing, maintaining, and calibrating to prevent potential breakdowns while maintaining safety and communicating effectively. Responsible for controls and automation equipment installs, calibrations, maintenance, and troubleshooting to include their associated devices and various components. Ensure other personnel and vendors comply with safety guidelines.

Duties:

  • Ensure production and facilities equipment is operational by responding to emergency, routine, and preventive maintenance. Equipment includes but not limited to CNC equipment, robotics, control systems, pumps, welders, punches, presses, shears, cranes, hoists, conveyors, heating and cooling ventilation systems, electrical systems, small hand tools, pneumatic, hydraulic equipment, and paint equipment.
  • Work with all electrical components, relays, sensors, ac and dc motors, drivers, servo systems and pneumatics systems.
  • Perform PLC program creation and modifications and electronic modifications to production equipment.
  • Work with voltages ranging from 5 VAC to 600 VAC.
  • Provide and coordinate production reliability improvement efforts and equipment troubleshooting support as needed with the production, maintenance, and engineering teams.
  • Coordinate trade and OEM-service contractors, certifying that work requested is performed as expected while conforming to safety standards.
  • Serve as the gatekeeper of all control and electrical drawings and primary electrical/controls resource.
  • Maintain all PLC/HMI programs for compounding, packaging and building systems, edit and write PLC programs, create/modify HMI screens, and perform basic electrical troubleshooting and functional modifications.
  • Collaborate on team projects to problem-solve and improve processes and procedures that improve OEE, safety, quality, and work environment.
  • Focus on equipment reliability and seek out opportunities to drive manufacturing capacity and capabilities within the factory.
  • Exercises independent decision-making to perform complex troubleshooting, installation, design, modification, fabrication, repair, assembly, calibration, moving, alignment, rebuilding, testing, and inspections on a broad range of complex tools, equipment and facilities; including electronic, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronics, PLC, computer controls, robotics, automation, machinery, motors, controls, etc.
  • Operate all types of tools and machines essential to the job, including but not limited to electrical meter, hand tools, hand-held power tools, torches, grinders, welders, forklifts, aerial lifts, overhead cranes, and computer equipment.
  • Calibrate, Align, Troubleshoot, and Repair equipment utilizing prints, schematics, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, engineering specifications, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications to perform maintenance actions and troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Assist in diagnosing, locating, and repairing complex equipment breakdowns by observing equipment in operation, listening for problems, using precision measuring / testing instruments, best shop practices, and utilizing root cause analysis tools.


Requirements:

  • 1 years of experience in automation, robotics, and controls.
  • Ability to create, modify and troubleshoot complex PLC programs and HMI programs and read electrical schematics.
  • Must have the ability to work at a fast pace, be open to new and different things, and express opinions regarding work methods and blueprints.
  • Must have the ability to learn to read and interpret prints, schematics, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Must have the ability to learn to use a multi-meter, computer, and have basic prints/schematics experience.
  • Must have the ability to learn to the knowledge and/or ability to operate the tools and equipment listed in the essential functions for this position.
  • Must have the ability to learn to the knowledge and/or ability to learn Lean Concepts and how they relate to Maintenance/Production.
  • Must have basic math skills, especially fractions.

 

Preferred:

  • 2-year degree in automation, robotics, controls, electrical, or any relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent industrial automation controls experience.
