Senior Project Engineer
Oshkosh, WI - Full Time
Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Oshkosh, WI. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will be a motivated Project Engineer who manages the engineering team. Responsible for driving continuous improvement efforts across different engineering disciplines. Responsible for making critical decisions that have a large impact on projects and engineering initiatives. Develops and fosters Engineers to think innovatively, hold accountability, and process improvement on a daily basis. Performs high level, engineering analysis, design or re-design, validation and troubleshooting of complex components for heavy duty vehicles. Provides integration and execution support for vehicle and component design. Provides technical mentorship in high level analysis and design of new and modified components and subsystems in accordance with engineering standards and project scope.
Duties:
- Manage an engineering team consisting of Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.
- Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of their engineering team.
- Provide coaching and development for their team through regular performance feedback, technical and professional training opportunities, and creation of individual development plans for team members.
- Prepare and control department budget, forecast operating costs of department, and direct preparation of budget requests.
- May have some level of P&L responsibility.
- Understand market share and P&L for their product line - business acumen.
- Collaborate and build relationships with internal and external customers, across segments and functions.
- Ability to present and defend technical engineering decisions to Engineering leadership.
- Responsible for completion of a project or part of a project of moderate complexity on time.
- May be responsible for overall project schedule and budget.
- May be responsible for managing multiple priorities.
- Performs more complex engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned.
- Responsible for preparation and delivery of plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
- Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
- May have exposure to the external customers and/or industry organizations.
Requirements:
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and five (5) or more years of related experience.
- Experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
- Must have direct experience creating and managing DFMEA documents.
- Ability to identify potential failure modes, assess risk, and propose mitigations.
- Experience leading DFMEA reviews with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Experience with DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report).
- Hands-on experience preferred (test, development, or build coordinating background).
- Verification & Review Experience.
- Hands-on involvement in carrying designs through verification testing.
- Prepping for and contributing to detailed design reviews.
- Familiarity with working in the prototype phase of new product development.
- CAD Tools: Familiarity with CREO and Windchill (for drawings, change notices, workflow).
Preferred:
- Strong recent hands-on verification/test & development experience.
- Comfortable with prototype phase engineering, seeing designs through verification and preparing for detailed design reviews.
- Prior experience with build coordination (working on shop floor, documenting issues, coordinating builds).
- Broader exposure to new product development launches in defense or automotive industries.
- High comfort level with change notice management and release processes.
