Mechanical Engineer - Chassis Manufacturing

Stoughton, WI – Full Time


Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Stoughton, WI. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will be a Mechanical Engineer joining our engineering team at our customer’s facility in Stoughton, WI. This role will focus on the design, optimization, and continuous improvement of chassis systems and manufacturing processes, ensuring product quality, reliability, and manufacturability.


This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration with the opportunity of professional growth, and additional opportunities within our organization.


Duties:

  • Lead and support the development, validation, and continuous improvement of chassis manufacturing processes.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to optimize chassis design for manufacturability, structural integrity, and cost efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance for MIG welding, structural assembly, torque tooling, and mechanical fastening methods.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production and quality issues.
  • Analyze and refine manufacturing workflows, layouts, and tooling designs to improve throughput and safety.
  • Support process documentation, PFMEAs, and control plans for chassis components and assemblies.
  • Drive sustainability and standardization initiatives across product lines.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to ensure product specifications align with production capabilities and field requirements.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering).
  • 3+ years of experience in a mechanical or manufacturing engineering role (preferably in chassis, heavy equipment, or automotive production).
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or NX) and understanding of GD&T principles.
  • Experience with MIG welding processes, torque control, and mechanical assembly operations.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, process improvement, and problem-solving methodologies (Six Sigma, 8D, DMAIC, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both on the production floor and in an engineering design environment.
