Supplier Quality Engineer

Decatur, IL (Or Remote) - Full Time


Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Decatur, IL. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will be a proactive and experienced Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE). In this role, you’ll work closely with suppliers, design engineers, and the shop floor to ensure quality and manufacturability throughout the product lifecycle. You’ll play a key role in design reviews, bringing your manufacturing knowledge to influence design decisions and ensure alignment with supplier capabilities.


This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration with the opportunity of professional growth, and additional opportunities within our organization.


Duties:

  • Act as the liaison between design teams and external suppliers to ensure manufacturability of components.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing feedback on manufacturability concerns (e.g., weldability, material availability, forming feasibility).
  • Assess and understand suppliers' manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve quality and process-related issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain.
  • Interpret and analyze engineering drawings and specifications, particularly for welded structures.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with Caterpillar’s quality standards and performance metrics.


Requirements:

  • Experience working with suppliers in a manufacturing, engineering, or quality-related role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, ideally related to welded structures.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Background in design engineering or manufacturing engineering preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work cross-functionally.


Preferred:

  • Experience in the heavy equipment or industrial manufacturing sectors.
  • Familiarity with quality systems and supplier development processes.
  • Knowledge of weld specifications and standards.
