Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our customer’s team at their facility in Springfield, Illinois. As a member of the team, you will lead a cross-functional team with accountability for the overall technical design, development, quality, innovation, project management, achievement of requirements, budget, and timeline for projects. Responsible for R&D and new product development projects as well as supporting and continuous improvement of current production commercial beverage products.

Duties:

  • Responsible for technical design and design integrity to achieve requirements for performance, reliability, and agency compliance.
  • Direct the creation, selection, implementation, and full qualification of system, sub-system and component designs and specifications.
  • Follow best practices to implement designs that meet requirements for quality, cost, performance, manufacturability, and serviceability.
  • Perform computer simulations and mathematical modeling to virtually test and refine design.
  • Conduct analysis on materials, stress, and thermodynamics.
  • Direct design engineers on detailed CAD models, drawings, and design reviews.
  • Work with quality engineers to conduct FMEAs, establish DVP&R and Quality Control Plans, and conduct reliability testing.
  • Develop and execute the test plan.
  • Work with engineering technicians on prototype assembly, design of test fixtures, test set up and procedures, and test data analysis.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to design manufacturability, assembly process requirements and assist in production startup.
  • Support documentation team in developing bills of materials, material master data and constructing engineering change notifications.
  • Work with product manager on refinement of product requirements and concept generation.
  • Draft intellectual property disclosures and work with team on patent applications and reviews.
  • Develop and manage the project plan to achieve objectives for requirements, unit cost, timeline, budget, resource needs, and risk management.
  • Lead team to successfully execute the NPD process and daily task level activities.
  • Promote effective cross-functional teamwork by collaborating with other roles such as manufacturing, purchasing, quality, service, agency, documentation, software, hardware, product management, marketing, and technical publications.
  • Effectively communicate with other departments, leadership team, and other stakeholders to set priorities, work through barriers and present compromises and tradeoffs to ensure project success.
  • Facilitate team meetings, track and report on project status and deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation including specifications, progress reports, action item tracking, financials, scope changes.
  • Support existing products through continuous improvement, quality issue resolution, warranty reduction and value improvement.
  • Conduct root cause analysis.
  • Develop and validate corrective actions and implement solutions.
  • Work with team to identify and qualify alternate materials, suppliers, and components.
  • Support production assembly, manufacturing, service, purchasing and sales.
  • Participate in competitive equipment analysis.


Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing new products, designing electro-mechanical systems, leading development teams, and managing projects.
  • 5+ years experience preferred.
  • Mechanical and electrical engineering principles and practices such as thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, electrical systems, pneumatic, robotic, hydraulic systems, plastic resins, injection molded part design, sheet metal part design, components such as pumps, circuit boards, motors, valves, switches, sensors, heaters, power supplies, wire harness design, analyzing tolerances.
  • Design of Experiments and testing methodologies.
  • 3D CAD modeling practices and simulation tools such as Finite Element Analysis and Mold Flow Analysis.
  • Relevant agency regulations and standards such as UL, NSF, and CE.
  • Project management tools and software.
  • Employ strong analytical and critical thinking skills, mastery in problem-solving, root cause analysis, and attention to detail.
  • Professional and effective communication with internal and external customers and team members at all levels of an organization.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Make decisions, perform under pressure and be comfortable with change and complexity in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities such as facilitating, listening, delegating, setting goals and decision making.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Project Management software
