Unit Supervisor

Milan, IL - Full Time


Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at John Deere's facility in Milan, Illinois. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will be responsible for achieving departmental/area goals and objectives. Supervise production, maintenance and/or warehouse employees in operations or processes requiring semi-skilled to unskilled employees to ensure that the goals of the department and organization are achieved. The supervisor is the first - line liaison between the production employees and the management staff and thus also serves the function of representing the company's interests with the shop floor staff. 

 

This full-time position is indefinite in duration with the opportunity of professional growth, and additional opportunities within our organization. 


Duties:

  • Responsible for leading the department to execute and achieve the stated metrics.
  • Supervise and lead the development and execution of departmental plans to achieve objectives in safety, quality, schedule, efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Investigate, analyze and resolve various systems, parts, people or process issues to correct deficiencies, reduce costs, improve processes/performance.
  • Administer employee policies, practices, procedures and work rules appropriate for the unit. 


Requirements:

  • Ability to work multiple shifts and work overtime as required, including some weekend work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with both salary and wage personnel.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of warehouse distribution and material flow processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in (any discipline) or 1+ years equivalent work experience.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience supervising or leading a team in a union environment.
  • Working knowledge of the Continuous Improvement Process (CI) and 5S methodology.
  • Experience with an incentive pay system such as CIPP (Continuous Improvement Pay Plan) and work measurement.
  • Experience using statistical tools and techniques for quality management.
  • Knowledge or work experience in project management.
  • Experience with capacity and manpower planning.
