Mechanical Test Engineer

Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Savage, MN. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will be a Mechanical Test Engineer who will be responsible for planning, developing, and executing a wide variety of test plans related to mechanical systems, vehicle chassis, frames, or body structures for the Advanced Technology Group. This role will be critical to ensuring the reliability and functionality of our technology offerings.

 

This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration with the opportunity of professional growth, and additional opportunities within our organization. 


Duties:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test objectives, requirements, and success criteria.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans and strategies encompassing mechanical systems, vehicle chassis, body structures, materials, and suspension systems.

  • Design and develop specialized test fixtures to facilitate accurate and repeatable testing, ensuring fixtures adhere to industry standards and best practices.
  • Assist in the selection and procurement of specialized lab equipment.
  • Assist in the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of lab equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Analyze test data to identify trends, deviations, and potential areas for improvement.
  • Generate detailed test reports, summarizing findings and recommendations for further development.
  • Work closely with engineers from various disciplines to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges.
  • Utilizes relevant test and design standards for testing and evaluation of design architecture.


Requirements:

  • Proficient in mechanical systems and structures test and validation techniques.
  • Experience with vehicle chassis, body structures, materials, and suspension systems.
  • Strong understanding of lab instrumentation and data acquisition systems such as Dewesoft.
  • Experience with test fixture design and fabrication.
  • Experience with data processing and visualization tools such as MATLAB.
  • Experience with test automation and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, analytical thinking, and technical writing skills.
  • Effective collaboration and communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with automotive or similar test and design standard.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Automotive, or Structural Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 to 8 years of testing and validation experience, preferably in the on-road or off-road vehicle industry.
