Quality Engineer
Eldridge, IA - Full Time
Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Eldridge, Iowa. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will establish and define the basic functions, reporting relationships, authority, requirements, responsibilities, duties, and performance measures for the position of Quality Engineer. This role plays a critical role in ensuring the control and improvement of product quality through various engineering assignments and collaboration with key stakeholders.
Duties:
- Apply a strong knowledge of quality systems to ensure the company meets internal, customer, and ISO 9001 requirements. Continuously improve the systems to meet annual business goals and quality standards.
- Work closely with design and process engineering, manufacturing, sales, customer service, and purchasing teams to resolve issues related to customer complaints, product design, specifications, materials, tooling, and production operations affecting product quality.
- Develop and maintain quality control plans that incorporate statistical control and regularly analyze and report on results and trends.
- Maintain and improve the quality program to ensure conformity of purchased materials and components, while collaborating with external suppliers to ensure high-quality standards.
- Establish and maintain quality assurance procedures for new products and review current products, developing quality assurance documentation, as necessary.
- Establish and maintain inspection criteria, ensuring all inspection reports and procedures are clearly documented and followed.
- Implement QA procedures during pre-production and production startup phases.
- Work with production supervisors to ensure quality requirements are met throughout production and communicate quality expectations effectively.
- Prepare and maintain quality-related reports and all relevant documentation.
- Perform internal audits and produce audit reports to ensure compliance with established procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Effective communication and listening skills with internal team members, external suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ability to write technical reports and business correspondence.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Advanced skills in mathematics and statistics.
- Computer literate with proficiency in industry-standard software.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- Knowledge of Process Capability (Cpk / Cp) and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Familiarity with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and standard measuring equipment.
- Understanding of precision machine shop processes and production techniques.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- At least 2 years of practical, related experience in a quality engineering or similar role.
