Position Overview


The Site IT Head is responsible for leading and managing Site IT infrastructure and Operations. Reporting directly to the Head of IT, this leadership role will oversee the site's information systems including networks, IT core infrastructure, business applications and cloud platforms, to support business objectives and ensure operational excellence. As a key member of the Site Leadership Team, the Site IT Head will play a critical role in shaping the user experience while ensuring compliant and secure IT operations. This position requires expertise in managing GxP IT and OT environments, lab infrastructure, and disaster recovery to ensure compliance, reliability, and business continuity.

 

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Technical Leadership: Manage hybrid cloud and on-premises IT infrastructure to support company growth. Develop and execute disaster recovery plans to safeguard data and maintain business continuity. Lead strategic technology initiatives and develop a technology roadmap to guide IT investments.
  • Infrastructure Management: Ensure the reliability, performance, and security of servers, managing both physical and virtual environments. Oversee storage solutions to ensure data integrity and availability. Design, implement, and maintain robust network solutions to ensure seamless connectivity across the organization. Oversee backup and recovery solutions to protect critical business data.
  • Technology & Security: Conduct regular security risk assessments via MSP to identify vulnerabilities, threats, and potential business impact. Mitigate risks, including technical controls, and lead process improvements. 
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations (SOX/GxP), data privacy requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, PII, PHI), and that appropriate controls are implemented. Develop infrastructure related policies, SOPs, Work Instructions, and Knowledge Base Articles. Point of Contact for internal/external Audits.
  • Operational Excellence: Continuously improve IT infrastructure and operations processes to support optimal business outcomes and ensure high performance and availability of systems. Implement best practices in IT service and asset management via CMDB, to streamline processes and optimize resource availability.


Requirements


Education


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and operations management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a regulated Life Science/Biotech environment

 

Licenses or Certifications


  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, Azure, VMWare, Cisco, ITIL/ITSM) are preferred


Knowledge & Skills


  • Life Science and Biotech industry knowledge
  • US FDA and European GDPR patient data regulations
  • Experience with enterprise-level IT systems and applications
  • Extensive experience with identity management and IT access controls
  • Experience with ITIL/ITSM processes such as IT incident/service request management, IT configuration management, and IT Asset Management or CMDB
  • Cybersecurity threat assessment and incident coordination
  • Self-starter with high degree of energy, independence, initiative, and self-motivation, as illustrated by the ability to instill a sense of pace and urgency into the team
  • Flexibility with changing priorities, ability to work well under pressure, and taking on unfamiliar tasks is required
  • Strong project management skills and ability to meet deadlines successfully 
  • Long term technical roadmap planning for core infrastructure and IT operations
