Senior Accountant / Accounting Professional

Position Overview
EllisLudell is seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable accounting professional to join its team for an immediate start. This opportunity is best suited for someone with a strong accounting background who can step into an established environment, learn processes quickly, and take ownership of key accounting responsibilities.
For the Milwaukee location in particular, we are seeking a more senior, tenured accounting professional with a well-rounded background and the ability to work independently with limited oversight.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, dependable, and very well-versed in day-to-day accounting functions, including month-end closing activities and commission-related accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with and take an active role in the month-end closing process
- Prepare, review, and reconcile accounting transactions and financial information
- Work with commission calculations, reporting, and related accounting activity
- Perform account and general ledger reconciliations
- Review financial data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and post journal entries as needed
- Assist with financial reporting and supporting schedules
- Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation
- Research and resolve accounting-related questions or variances
- Partner with internal departments to obtain necessary financial information
- Help ensure accounting deadlines are met accurately and efficiently
- Support additional accounting projects and responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
- Strong professional accounting background required
- Several years of progressive accounting experience preferred
- Senior-level or more tenured accounting experience strongly preferred for the Milwaukee opportunity
- Solid understanding of general accounting principles and practices
- Hands-on experience with month-end close
- Experience working with commissions or commission-based accounting highly desirable
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of responsibilities
- Ability to quickly learn existing accounting processes and systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who can join quickly and become a contributing member of the accounting team. This individual should have enough accounting depth and experience to understand the bigger picture while also being comfortable handling the detailed transactional and reconciliation work required to keep the accounting function running smoothly.
